these were our (America's) options, as I see it:

a) let Saddam hang around, and watch woefully as he and his sons brutally slaughtered their own people and made alliances with certain european countries to get their hands on nuclear and biological weapons information

b) sludge through the UN's policies to put an end to the slaughter and illegal information trafficing, most likely all in vain because in the end it will have taken soooo long to get UN approval on everything that Saddam and his sons will have already made and tested biological weapons

c) make a pre-emtpive stike on Saddam, take he and his sons down. Secure any possible nuclear and biological weapons factories, research facilities, and/or devices.

Bush took too long to decide and we ended up doing a mix between b and c, which really screwed everybody up for the long run. But you know what, what ever he did, whethor for the right reasons or not, is a hell of a lot better than what France would have done ( sit on their ass and whine about it to the British ).
2004 election the American public got screwed over, because the choice was this: Bush, who's rather stupid; or Kerry, who would have followed all of the UN rules and regulations, and given a withdrawl date, and withdrawn all of the UN forces from the Middle East on that date, allowing any sort of terrorist organization to know exactally when they could start re-estabilishing a tyranny again.
So, pick the lesser of two evils and we're still stuck with Bush.
